CU Jazz, under the direction of Paul Merrill, has provided the opportunity for the CU Jazz Ensemble to learn from and perform with a renowned musician each semester. I was fortunate enough to spend all eight of my semesters at Cornell as a member of the CU Jazz Ensemble. Performances included sharing the stage with Christine Jensen, Marcus Printup, Steve Brown, Gerald Clayton, Sara Gazarek, Vincent Herring, Bill Easley, and Ingrid Jensen.

I was extremely lucky to have the opportunity to spend my spring break in Kigali, Rwanda, with my classmates in MUSIC 4355: Rwanda Audio Lab, under the direction of Professor Victoria Netanus Xaka. The class was mentored by Rwandan musical icons, worked with young students and children at the Gisimba Memorial Center, and produced a short EP by the end of the week.
"Rail Switch" was my first-ever composition and arrangement for large jazz ensemble, and is a contrafact of Cole Porter's "I Love You." Here's me conducting the Cornell University Jazz Ensemble playing the tune.
